Projects
Being able to manage construction and renovation projects is a key component of success as a golf course superintendent. Almost every course has some sort of ongoing renovation or master plan as time goes on. I have been directly associated with numerous projects both large and small, with in-house staff and hired contractors.
Communication is also critical to ensuring members understand the processes on the course and why things are happening. I have documented and provided membership with various media during each project.
A few examples are included below.
The pre-existing golf maintenance facility was significantly undersized and ill-equipped for the current scale of maintenance operations. With the assistance of a consultant and architect, I designed every aspect of the maintenance facility to be custom tailored to the exact specification and need of Glen Arven. This maximized impact and reduced cost. We identified a new site, created an extensive proposal for the club’s Board of Directors, then permitted and constructed a fantastic new facility. This project was initiated without any financial contingency and completed within budget.
NEW MAINTENANCE FACILITY
Tee renovations, fairway re-grading, bunker construction, expansion and re-contouring of #18 pond, sand-capping areas, construction of new course restrooms, and installation of over a mile of new drainage.
GLEN ARVEN RENOVATION
Tee construction, greens construction, bunker construction, lake contour adjustments, fairway re-contouring, and construction of tournament access roads.
